| Fox Division was responsible for operation and maintenance of the ship's fire control
equipment. That's gunfire, not fire-fire (which was the responsibility of the Damage
Controlmen). A system consisted of a fire control director (up on the
superstructure), coupled with a radar room which also contained analog computer systems
for fire control solutions. The 8-inch turret battery was coupled to a director
which was also connected to a large plotting room down in the bowels of the ship.
This room also contained a large switchboard which could change director control.
This section is underdevelopment, but we
won't keep you waiting forever.
